Awareness of the Ego and of the Inner Spirit

The relationship of ego awareness to inner spirit awareness, one to another, and regarding sacrifice and surrender.

The ego sacrifices, letting go of its desire; what it would have had if it could have had it. It gives it up, as if it was its possession in the first place. Showing reluctance, the ego was so certain of its way, but now there is no satisfaction. And almost always, in some fashion, the ego feels the pain of a personal wound, or loss of some worldly love. Ego likes sacrifice so much better when it gets to choose what and when.

One’s spirit has no such delusions.

The inner spirit surrenders to the Spirit; if it is awake and strong in the moment. Blending into the larger form of itself, joining with Spirit and Spirit’s ways. Willingly participating in the foregoing as directed; having become the proverbial drop in the ocean. Leaning into saintly ways, spirit is naturally attuned to the signs of what actions to take next. And until informed, it waits. And not in grief, but in anticipation, even delight. For it matters not what is to be, for spirit is pregnant with God, feeling fulfilled. Divinity is in the air no matter the outcome.

Sometimes ego and spirit work together through meditation, contemplation, intention, and pragmatism.
